Gokucha-Shiki is a ceremony of serving tea to the principal image of worship, the statue of Kobo Daishi, conducted by Sen Soshitsu, headmaster of the Urasenke Tea School. This yearly tea ceremony is performed in front of the statue of Kobo Daishi located in the main hall of the premise, while the chief abbot of the temple is conducting Goma ritual, burning pieces of wood on the altar to solicit divine help.
Throughout the day, tea ceremonies are performed in various places of the temple compound. Tea admirers as well as tourists are welcome to enjoy tea ceremonies free of charge.
